Sharps off!

So i don't know if this a tradition/rule? everywhere, but in my hospital, and the hospital i trained in: Doctors remove all sharps( syringe needles, scalpel blades and suture needles) from their instrument tray following a surgery. This helps ensure that it is safe for the nurse to clean up everything. If the Dr. forgets the deal is that they then owe the tech a milkshake :D  Last Thursday, i noticed that after a combination dental cleaning/ skin tag removal, my Dr. had left the suture needle out, and the scalpel blade attached to the handle.(probably because our patient started to wake up quickly after she finished.)  "hey, does this mean you are supposed to get me something?" i joked. "Oh yeah!" she said "what would you like?" So next time we have a morning surgery together she's going to bring me a coffee. :)
